Introduction

Emblem Meaning
The National Emblem of Zimbabwe was inaugurated on September 21, 1981. It is a coat of arms with a water pattern on the top and a green area below with the Great Zimbabwe ruins. There is a Zimbabwean bird on the wreath. In front of the red five-pointed star. Behind the shield are crossed hoes and rifles, supported by kudus on both sides. The yellow ground below has wheat, logs, cotton and corn. The ribbon book has the national motto 'unity, freedom, labor.'
